Steam powered in-line 3 with permanent (no transmission) final drive ratio provided by differentials at each axle…and a super crazy telescoping drive shaft to accommodate power transmission to the front truck while turning. That is the most unique steam loco configuration I’ve ever seen anywhere (including some pretty nutty ones in the CH, AU, DE, IT, FR alps)…
