A macro zoom of the surface of a Salyut titanium tank that is festooned with micrometeorite craters from 8.8 years in space. They look like frozen craters, caused by small, but very energetic meteoroids slamming into the tank while it was in space. it’s a rough world out there, at all scales, when hit at 30,000 MPH.

Every single day, about 100 tons of meteoroids hit Earth, but most burn up in the atmosphere (NASA).
