Today is International Asteroid Day, as declared by the United Nations. ☄️
I surround myself at work with various stones tossed at us by the solar system. We have a collection of Mars, Moon, Vesta, and some really strange rocks set into motion before the Earth was formed, destined to collide with us billions of years later. I also have a man-made meteorite from the unlucky deorbiting of a Russian Salyut-7 space station in Argentina. Having spent 8.8 years in space, it is amazing to seen how the titanium tank is riddled with micrometeorite craters itself, reminding us that it’s a rough world out there at all scales when hit at 30,000 MPH.

I also did a catchup with B612 on their new asteroid discovery method, and I hope to share that soon once the paper publishes.
