A poetic portrayal of the sunflower segment by Massimillano Siccardi, Artistic Director of the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit:

“The color breaks forth like an epiphany, appears and disappears inside his mind, like a memory recorded only on canvas.

The sunflowers swarm his memory. They turn into matter. The mind gets overwhelmed by nostalgia.

And while the eyes ask for tears, his fingers move across the color, tracing paths that move away from the memory.”

When Genevieve was 3 years old, she performed a sunflower skit with a tutu on her head. When asked what it was all about, she exclaimed “The Happiness!”

  1. the smoking skull is one of his trippy early worksa juvenile joke at the Antwerp art academy in 1886

  2. The Van Gogh immersive is so excellent. Saw it in Chicago. Tears were streaming down my cheeks and into the mask thinking about Vincent. Because decades ago I had survived living outside as a street artist in the winter here by doing portraits. And no one bought any of Vincent’s work…
