We were guests of Scott Hubbard, the former “Mars Czar” at NASA. From his book Exploring Mars: “Chapter 1 — Mars is Hard: The history of modern Mars exploration is a cautionary tale. The Soviet Union (and, later, Russia) has been singularly unlucky in exploring Mars. [They] attempted twenty missions to the red planet. Of that, only four were minimally successful, and none could be called fully successful."
And visiting the wind tunnel where they tested the parachute that performed so perfectly today… and the Mars helicopter that will soon take flight:
