I stumbled across this time capsule from TED 2002, the 12th TED. It was the transition year from Richard Saul Wurman to Chris Anderson. The speaker highlight pamphlet had this creative art… I was on the page with Dean Kamen, astronaut Mae Jemison and Quincy Jones. Tech, Entertainment and Design write large, on our face

  1. gratuitous 69 or maybe the speaker count

  2. …was there and remember thinking your presentation was just the right baud rate 😉 Also the standing O’s for Richard were deeply emotional…I loved TED very much when it was young, intimate, non-pretentious and held in lovely Monterey… EG tried to get there…capturing some of that early TED spirit, but IMO never reached the peak 01/02 TED…Favorite random TED moment: 2003 TED chatting with a then nearly unknown (outside of SV) Larry Page about the recent Blogger acquisition while chuckling as a dreadfully underpowered 4′ long RC helium dirigible flew by us at the opening night cocktail party. Google’s adwords/adsense was still very poorly understood at that time, and Blogger was something like Ev Williams + 4 staff. 😉
