Arguably one of the major milestones in SpaceX’s history, here are some amazing drone shots of the first test vehicle flight for Starship, the first fully-reusable launch system. Full reusability allows you to go to the Moon or Mars and back autonomously, where the cost drivers are fuel (cheap methane + oxygen) and depreciation. The radical difference in cost is perhaps best understood when thinking about point-to-point travel on Earth. You could do intercontinental flights in 20-30 minutes at a lower cost than taking an airplane…. in coach class. And you get to visit space en route.
The diagram shows roughly what this SN5 hopper (the pink box) represents in the full stack of booster + upper stage.
