I am am trying to use the word “DaDa” for what most people call “milk” so I have a chance of being her first word. Mama has such the inside track otherwise.
Working on it with the paternal lineage.Jimmy Fallon’s pitch: “Your baby’s first word will be . . . Dada!
Right?
Everyone knows that fathers wage a secret campaign to ensure that their babies’ first word is Dada!
But how does it work?
Emmy Award and Grammy Award winner Jimmy Fallon did everything in his power to ensure that his daughter’s first word would be "Dada!" Yes, he has many other projects on his plate, but he was determined that his daughter would say "Dada!" before any other word. He worked very hard on this.
Jimmy Fallon lives with his wife, Nancy, and their daughters, Winnie Rose and Frances Cole, in New York City. Winnie’s first word was "Mama!"
So, she is making a lot of sounds these days at month 4, and I noticed her gaze going to my lips when I say mama and dada. As a pre-verbal toddler, you can only learn from random experimentation and mimicking what you see. Then it hit me. "MaMa" uses the lips and is easily visible. "DaDa" requires the tongue against the roof of the mouth, not easily visible. Mama is going to win every time.
