Reunion ’89 is this weekend.
I spoke with a cluster of current frosh who seemed deeply interested in our ancient wisdom on how to climb the huge radar dish — that enigmatic jungle gym for atavistic adults looming over Silicon Valley. 📡 (and I verified that the old methods still work; the fence gap is still there, and the security detail is the same)
Here is a photo-essay of peak-Stanford, vertically speaking.
One of the special features of the mini-reunions: you know 💯% of the people from your frosh dorm. It was quite a powerful experience to meet people as I walked up and carry on as if no time had passed.
We were meant to be roommates. Neighbors in Donner, and then the next couple years in Yost. Fellow Dish Climbers and steam tunnel spelunkers.
