Maryanna is all about the moon shots! She made the case for modular low-cost fusion power plants (around minute 6 of her interview by John Doerr).
Doerr: What do you look for in founders?
Yuri Milner: “Curiosity. That’s it. And they need to be ready to sacrifice. Many underestimate the intensity it takes to build something significant.”
“But it does not take prior experience. The biggest companies were built by people who had no experience.”
Morris Kahn: “The Space-IL budget was $8M, and I thought that was a good amount for a lunar landing. I provided the first seed capital.”
Doerr: How muich did it actually cost?
Morris: “$100M. If they were accurate about the costs, nobody would have invested. You have to mislead your potential investors.” (!)
