The magma-warmed geothermal water is blue for the same reason the sky is blue. I was reading Geoffrey West’s Scale, and on p.77 “Lord Raleigh shows that the intensity of light waves scattered by small particles must decrease with the fourth power of their wavelength. Thus, when sunlight scatters from microscopic particles, the shortest wavelengths, corresponding to blue light, dominate.”
