
When NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine came to town, Ames brought the Lunar Module cab out of storage and fired up the program for the Apollo and Altair programs, so he could give it a spin. I did too, and compiled a video montage.
It moves with 6 degrees of freedom in a 120-ft. tall tower deep in the secure part of the NASA Ames campus. It’s powered by a massive hydraulic system that can simulate the movement of a moon lander as it hits the landing target on the moon.
