for winning a TED2019 Donation of $45M for foundational science! Imagine a universal flu vaccine capable of providing lifetime immunization from a singe shot. IPD press release

I have been a Baker Lab fanboy for the past 8 years, before becoming a donor: In this talk, I highlighted his groundbreaking work in designing proteins that target the invariant part of H1N1 flu and novel catalytic enzymes using 250,000 computers.

  1. David Baker’s TED talk just came out.

  2. Update: Fauci was talking about their nanoparticle vaccine to congress a couple days ago. Their universal flu vaccine has just begun Phase 1 clinical trials. It should provide better protection than traditional flu shots, and may even protect against novel flu strains that have the potential to become future pandemics. Separately, the IPD’s COVID-19 vaccine developed in Neil King’s lab is advancing to Phase 3 clinical trials.
