Interesting choice of rear tires and larger rims on the steer axle. Some truckers call tire carcasses in the road, "gators." This thing is lower to the ground than most tractors, making it susceptible to damage from small debris. Skid plates might help with airflow and protect soft stuff on the underside. I see a lot of things in this photo that go into modern diesel tractors so they approach an efficient 8 miles per gallon, (the operators hope). Interesting photo.
