The beauty of the rugged Mendocino Coast, an old logging town reborn as an art colony.
Most of these photos are from Russian Gulch State Park and the “Sin Hole” (as Parks & Rec has it proudly labeled on the signage).
A nearby Russian settlement was the southernmost Russian presence in North America. Fur trappers operated there from 1812-1841. And then California became part of the U.S. in 1848… and then that ’49ers thing happened.
