So thematic… Planet’s launch today was on the Minotaur Frankenstein!

6 SkySats (formerly part of Google) and 4 Doves took flight this afternoon, to become part of the flock that images the entire Earth every day. (launch video)

More on the all-Planet payload: “With morning and afternoon constellations working in tandem, we have the ability to monitor areas of interest twice daily in both medium- and high-resolution, and we can capture different types of activities that happen at different times of the day.” Planet now operates the largest fleet of high resolution satellites, ever, reaching all spots on Earth twice per day.

In this gathering, you see a little pre-cog celebration with the extended Planet team and astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield …at our Pacific pad… a bit North of the Vandenberg launch site, we almost became a Planet ground station.
