An incredible new exhibit at Burning Man 2017, the Tree consists of thousands of individually addressable LED lights that can create the illusion of leaves waving in the wind, as well as many more undulating tricks. One cool detail: because the installation will likely have some physical variation in final leaf locations, they scan the tree post-installation and create a digital map of each light’s final location. The illumination software takes that into account for alignment across the palette.
