The original fake news of Silicon Valley?

From the local paper today: “Buck’s is a historic landmark: It was here that Marc Andreessen secured funding from John Doerr to launch Netscape; here that Sabeer Bhatia convinced Steve Jurvetson to invest in Hotmail; here that the so-called Paypal Mafia was formed. (CNN later filmed a re-enactment of Bhatia and Jurvetson’s fateful meeting at the restaurant.) ‘As a result, I have been confused with somebody of influence,’ MacNiven said.” —http://www.sfchronicle.com/restaurants/article/Tomfoolery-on-the-menu-at-Buck-s-in-Woodside-11283894.php#photo-13219968

Ah yes, Jamis MacNiven. Proprietor and curator of curiosities at Bucks. He wrote a book, Breakfast at Buck’s. This is a picture from the book, reprinted from a Bucks restaurant menu… of a VHS recording of a television frame from a TokyoTV program in Japanese… that filmed a 4×6 photograph… cropped to remove the CNN television crew that was filming a recreation of the incorporation of Hotmail. That much is true.
