We got there before the opening for a special tour. Autodesk wants to scan the Apollo 11 handle that I have as it is the only flown example from the Apollo program. All of the others were destroyed as radioactive waste, and the silver-colored ones you see on the capsule are post-flight replacements.

  2. Years ago I helped a guy recover a bunch of data from his corrupted hard drive, which turned out to be pictures of his ride on a restored B-24. He was a bigwig at the Air & Space Museum and he gave me a card promising a special tour as a thank you. We weren’t allowed to accept tips, so I never used it… and now I’m kicking myself for being so stupid.

  4. very interesting question… I am not sure… certain meteorites and glow-in-the-dark instrument dials comes to mind…
