The projection overlays the wood floor in my son’s computer room.

The JJ Abrams relaunch of the Star Wars franchise brings back good memories. I noticed JJ doodling away during a group discussion at a charity retreat in Utah, and he kindly gave me his proto-bounty hunter sketch afterward (below). I still have it framed in my office.

Spending the weekend with George Lucas may have had an influence. I recently learned that it was the first time they met.

I was with JJ and George again in August, and JJ revealed that in the new Star Wars “the fate of the galaxy is in the hands of a girl.”

And a couple fun quotes from my first encounter with George Lucas:

“With Star Wars, I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“You can make Star Wars now with one million dollars.”

Ha!

  1. JJ Abrams’ Boba Fettish sketchBoba FettishI first met him backstage at TED, where we marveled at how strange it is to have turned 40. His grandpa was a big influence on him, and used to take household technology apart. “It was a wonderful gift for a kid.”
