Correcting Code
Introducing Lawrence Lessig last night at DFJ. He was so eloquent.
Here are my Lessig posts over the years: http://tinyurl.com/qfugzfp In 2004, we co-taught an interdisciplinary class at the Stanford Law School. It was called “Ideas vs. Matter: the Code in Tiny Spaces” and we explored genetic programming, digital matter and the regulatory ecosystem.
Fora memory capsule of the event, here’s the email invite I used:
Subject: Larry Lessig for President… WTF?
Yes, technophiles and fans of the Constitution, Larry Lessig is considering a run for President in the Democratic Primary.
His candidacy is essentially a referendum on the single core issue of restoring equality to our democracy and ending the corruption of campaign funding. Once he achieves this fix to the system, he will resign.
He needs 1% name recognition to make it into the Democratic debates, which would be fantastic to watch and should elevate the conversation.
Reid Hoffman and I spent the weekend with Larry, and find his ideas to be fascinating. If you would like to hear them first hand, please join us this Thursday, August 20 at 6pm for a gathering DFJ. Larry will explain why he is obsessed with this effort to save our Republic, and we’ll have a chance to ask questions about the why and how.
