Rediscovering Mom
When my dad passed in December, I had dinner with my Mom that evening, and we both realized that we had not had a 1:1 meal together since I was in high school. We did a lot as a family, but no mother-son time together. It was a pretty jaw dropping realization for both of us. Dad and I had gone to Europe and Asia and TED together for years. When we awoke from surgery, one of the first things he said, with the excitement of an epiphany: “we get to go to TED again.” Alas, he did not make through the month. A silver lining to all this is that I have been able to rediscover my mom anew and it has been wonderful. Namaste.
