On this day in 1957, humanity launched the first object into space. Today, the X-Prize Foundation took an adventure tour to the Mojave Spaceport to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ansari X-Prize, the first commercial suborbital flights. The lunch panel brought together the sponsors (Ansari, Branson, Paul Allen’s group), designer Burt Rutan, and the pilots of these historic flights. We saw the Virgin Galactic rig ready for a final glide and feather test, and a variety of other goodies (more photos)
