Wow, they even copied our excess-chrome era….

The hood logo looked like WANKA to me, but it’s Ча́йка or Chaika. This GAZ M13 version began production in 1959 and was available only to Soviet government officials, and could not be purchased by average citizens, but they could rent them for weddings. A fine addition to my Wedding Crasher collection.

  1. Cheers to a friendly couple, whoever they are…DSC02697And a real wedding photographer’s car… DSC02636

  2. It also has chrome elements and badging similar to a ’55 Cadillac Fleetwood. It’s in Tallinn, Estonia, a relic of the Soviet occupation times. Indside, it has a push-button automatic transmission of a similar design to the Chrysler TorqueFlite. They were the car of choice of the KGB and Nikita Khrushchev.

  3. I wanna know where in the Former Commie Bloc do you get 1970’s ANSEN wire wheel rip offs with bullet centers, no 283 enginein the car wither? Or did the Russians plug a 4 cyl tractor motor in it.

  4. 195 horsepower 5.5L V8, 3-speed automatic transmission. But not too reliable, hence the reliance on bride-power

  5. It seems like there needs to be an upgrade to their collection because a car that stalls on one’s wedding day is not good marketing! And no fun for the new couple! A fun photos, though!

  6. Nope, groom wants to push start the car and jump inside to pop the clutch, remember doing that?
