It slices (through pot, stove and all), it dices, it freezes, and explodes popcorn midair while recording with a Phantom high speed cameras and creative Canon exposures, coupled with panoramic stitching, focus stacking, and microscopy – to show the world of food in an entirely new way. His Modernist Cuisine exhibit opens tomorrow at the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose.

“I hope that others share with us the child-like wonder and curiosity I feel when looking at these photos,” Myhrvold says. “Cooking is the only science experiment we all do on a regular basis.”

    And he gave us a BBQ discovery – it’s the fat drippings on the coals that conveys the complex flavor notes. You can add more with a squirt bottle. =)
