In the studio this morning. Here is a portion of the live interview.

In the first part, you can see Elon Musk testifying simultaneously to the Senate about competing with the currently monopoly. – Iron Man made manifest… =) You can jump to Elon’s opening comments at minute 0:29 of the Senate testimony and the Q&A follows, with cross-exam questions around minute 0:40.

Musk opens with how SpaceX could save the government $11.6B on one contract alone. And how we reply on Russian engines for our “assured access” to space for national security missions.

Musk: “The Atlas V cannot assure access to space when it relies on President Putin’s permission to enter space. SpaceX rockets are truly made in America.”

My favorite quote: “There’s some magic going on at SpaceX that we don’t fully understand, but we appreciate the results.”

  1. Seems like they could have used a more "space-like" background. Looking forward to listening to the interview.

  2. Yeah…. That would have been more cool. Here’s the rest of the 7:45-length interview (we are hosting it temporarily until they post it online). CNBC posted the first 3 minutes of it (the caption link above).

  3. Saving Money and the Federal Government is a complete 180 degrees of each other, one camp preaches SAVE SAVE SAVE yet the opposition yells PORK PORK PORK, where’s the LOBBYISTS? NO Middle ground?

  4. bike-R: it used to drive me nuts too… and then Lessig put it all into perspective.

This just in from the Wall Street Journal: Democrats try to convince Republicans to rely on market competition and to bet on U.S. entrepreneurs over the Russians.

    Republicans fight back.

Reagan rolls over in his grave. You can’t make this up.

  5. Cool ambience…..was visiting Made in Space a few days at Singularity. Looks like 3D printing and space ALSO goes together 🙂 Are we to meet up soon and compare cufflinks? I have a set of both Darth Vader and Yoda waiting for you 🙂

  6. Y not just take the politics out of SPACE EXPLORATION and utilization and let private biz and entrepreneurs fill the voids like Edison, Carnege, Ford and Firestone did? Oh yeah, at CPAC TEA PARTY SCREAMS TO Get rid of IRS? WTF?????? Politicos are biggest abusers of deductions!
