In a recurring Venter pattern, they will use the latest tools (Illumina HiSeqX Tens) to build the largest human sequencing center in the world (surpassing BGI in China) with an annual throughput of 40,000 (growing to 100K) human genomes and microbiomes from the same individuals. In partnership with Metabolon, they will characterize over 2,400 chemical biomarkers in the blood of the subject individuals. This becomes a huge data set for machine learning.

Today they will also announce that they will sequence every UCSD cancer patient and their tumors. Another corporate partner will be providing therapeutic stem cell lines. They will use techniques like CRISPR to edit the stem cell lines. They have acquired Microbiome Healthcare Inc. and its microbiome IP from the Venter Institute.
