Getting ready to become a satellite tracking station.

Up on the roof today, he’s imitating the truss and pole while holding one circularly-polarized YAGI antenna. Another one would be in his left hand, at different frequencies for uplink and downlink. As the satellites pass overhead, the antennae track from North to South (sun-sync polar orbits).

There is a rocket tracking station to support Vandenberg AFB launches on the northern tip of Half Moon Bay. So it seems appropriate to have one at the southern tip as well.

Shhhh… don’t tell the spousal unit. This is a “seek forgiveness” operation. =)
