a beautiful dusk launch today, from the SpaceX feed
stage separation

And a cool catch of the last SpaceX launch from the Bahamas… a shooting star overhead

Taken by a friend of my partner John from the island of Eleuthera
I keep trying to get a shot like this at VAFB, but they keep chasing me off the pad….. =8-o
Great shot!
Nice capture! Added to

If I may, I will work on this one and try to bring some more punch out of it.

yeah…cognitive diodes, like cognitive racism, are an atavistic inheritance we suffer through during the transition.
@Benjamin Hunt – gotcha. I flipped it to copyright from CC, and I need to remember to do that manually from my default CC for all my photo posts. If you want the image, I can try to get it released under a CC license. NASA images are public domain, and I think I can make the argument to the right people…
Well, if it’s not too much trouble to ask for CC — it’s a striking photo, and made a really nice lead to the Space-X page. So, another possible argument for a CC release.
And, as always, thanks for the many CC photos you already have contributed! 660 as of this note:

If it is just informative and no money is made from it, why should anybody trouble themselves paying lawyers to chase the copyrights on this material?
Seatonsnet, while most companies would probably agree that any publicity is good publicity, some get concerned over uncontrolled usage of their material, especially if they cannot control when those images might be used in a negative fashion. This becomes especially true for material created by individuals…they tend to have a much greater stake in the dissemination of their artwork or photography, as licensing or selling copies may be their livelihood. That said, companies and governments are increasingly willing to license their works under free licenses, and for multiple reasons. Wikimedia Foundation, the Creative Commons folks, and many others have done a lot of good work in extolling the values of freely licensing copyrighted material.

Very cool stuff. Who says grownups can’t have fun?
@Benjamin Hunt — you reminded me… I did get permission to share this with Wikipedia from SpaceX. How should we proceed? Can they send you an email granting reuse rights?
If you’ll share with them this link: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OTRS#Declaration_of_co… , they can send that fill-out form to the email provided, and just attach copies of the images they are submitting. My colleague N2e will be thrilled, I’m telling you 🙂
