Moby has globes spanning the walls and up the staircase. When I asked him which was his favorite, he made a beeline to the one with the Apollo orbital charts (in the foreground)… Soulmate!

He is holding the prettiest globe, full of stars… and the little red one was my gift to him, a perpetually spinning Mars globe.

The HOLLYWOOD sign on the art piece on the wall echoes the view of the real sign one can see looming over Moby’s castle in Hollywood Hills.

  1. Moby likes cartoons. He pointed out that the MG initials for Matt Groening are clearly rendered in the hair-ear combo:

Such a cool perspective. He shot this with the same camera I use, the 5D Mark II

He told me it is awkward to review shots and make ISO adjustments when the crowd just wants you to get on with it. I shared my trick – just point to someone and say that they blinked, so you have to take another shot.

It was part of a Science Salon, and I made some opening remarks. MobyParty45

  2. multidimensional people are always good to see 🙂

  3. He would like this place. A cathedral of globes

I really like this as the world’s most interesting art globe from the Vermeer neighborhood with this incredible use of aspect ratio, spherical symmetry and perspective

  4. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/scleroplex] They do have a tendency for highly syncretic philosophy if you have ever read any of Moby’s album inserts. Somewhat like an apostle Paul inventing Christianity on the road to Damascus with alot of recording gear.

  5. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/scleroplex] Up or down the street is Madonna who is alternately into the Kabbalah, Yoga, Sufi poets, practices and more – in addition to upside down crusifixes and coordinated lingere as an ongoing show tradition. I asked my sister who lives out there familiar with these locales, immune to any logic and facts on my part, what gives? Atheist yoga in the morning, sacred Kabbala of the mystic Sufi masters in the evening?? I can’t fully elaborate it but the core argument seems to be tied to all beliefs, spirituality and practice is essentially entertainment so this is what you should expect from creative people. The all art is subjective argument along with a few other things which lead to the bigger framing problem of nihilism.

  6. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/jgury] — I am impressed. With your new icon, it’s like a whole new you! I will pass your link along to moby if you don’t mind.

I just put up a video that I forgot about since those plants put out spectacular blooms last spring/fall. 20++ feet tall and symmetric paired inflorescence.
For Moby links, great. All this stuff is an open book on my end and there is always more where that came from. I would be surprised if a globe aficionado and euro traveller had not spent some quality time at the Scheepvaartmuseum. A few of those projection displays are really mesmerizing. Some guys really had a thing for globes in that Vermeer neighborhood. Even now, a good celestial globe would be really helpful especially in South America / Southern hemisphere. I’m always disoriented by the night sky there, even more so up in the mountains.
