The sensor can also provide Doppler-derived range rate data on skin or coherent transponder tracks. Non-owners may utilize the services of the radar, but site operations and maintenance is limited to the Western Range contractor." http://www.militarymuseum.org/PointPillarAFS.html
I’d encrypt your rocket telemetry and post no prior advance notice of launches just to be on the safe side, have the ground and recovery crews checked out and make sure the flight director is given the flight plans only a few hours before launch 🙂
I find this statement intereting "Non-owners may utilize the services of the radar, " What, a USAF base has private ownership? Regardless, I think what they mean is that they have some sort of program for rocket man trusty citizens to use god knows whatever data feed and telemetric services that rocket men / rocket gals would be interested in. PR for the ballistic missile and space commands. Cheaper than the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels I suppose and less risky. For all I know the private citizens in that part of the world have better space telemetry and data feed services than the USAF. Seems unlikely but I sure would not bet on it. So SJ could rig up the view cam of the Ritz reception desk to start monitoring whatever they put out from Pillar Point, see how well the sats can track golf balls or surfer contestants with Go Pro cams.
