with an event sponsor and Geoffrey Moore. Benioff has an infectious enthusiasm for philanthropy. Personally, Marc and his wife Lynne (who he called out to stand from their dinner table) intend to give away the vast majority of their wealth, and recently gave $100M to establish the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. From from the founding days of Salesforce, Marc established the Salesforce Foundation:
“When we started Salesforce.com, we pledged to give away 1% our time, 1% of our profits and 1% of our equity. It was easy to do then because we had no time, no profits and no equity value.”
“Giving away your money is easy to do and brings grace to the world.”
“Salesforce.com is given for free to all non-profits. [applause] I get emails all the time about amazing things they are doing with our products.”
“On the first day on the job, every new employee spends the first couple hours getting their email and finding their cubicle and the restroom. And then they spend the entire afternoon on community projects to give back. They learn that it’s a priority from day one. Countless employees and ex-employees over the years have been exposed this this, and hopefully been inspired.”
