it was hot, Hot I tell you… I had trouble remembering my cell phone number when registering to fly… a familiar heat exhaustion, and so I had to double check my wiring of the flight computers to the CO2 parachute deployment canisters. What should have been a few hours of prep, stretched from a slathering of PAPI on the O3400 motor on Friday night, to barely making the close of the launch window at the end of Saturday.     he knew enough to come out with the rest of us to the pads for launch preparation…

    The next day, we went shopping for a JATO engine from a Canadian aerospace company…
    also known as a P8000 motor in rocketry parlance…

    but the dimensions were too funky for our existing airframes, and I could not convince Erik that we should get one to strap to the rental car roof to recreate the Darwin Award….

    And our sun tent was destroyed by a 60 MPH gale that kicked up overnight

    We bent the metal frame back in to shape for one last use.
