NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver just gave an energetic talk comparing New Space to Silicon Valley:
“NASA has the best brand in the world, maybe second only to Apple.”

NASA’s Bill Gertstenmaier (aka Bill G) spoke about a B612 partnership and 3D printing on station. More photos below.

“85% of the mass going to Mars is propellant and associated infrastructure”
— Jim Caravala, Shackleton Energy

“We can actually change our fate. And there are not many things where you can look in the mirror and say that.”
— Jason Kessler, NASA Asteroid Grand Challenge Program Executive

  1. The conference had a really cool poster…

NASA’s Alex McDonald gave a fascinating intro on the early history of observatories and space exploration, which were private company endeavors. The radical notion in a public-private partnership was the involvement of government at all in space exploration. Here he asks Planet Labs co-founder Robbie Schingler on the far right if he just "buried the lead" when parenthetically mentioning that they are launching the largest Earth observation constellation later this year…

  2. Sounds like a simulation of space command.

  3. As always, Steve, you take great portrait shots!
Indeed, Nasa, back in the days was the strongest brand in the world.

  4. We we’re please to have Ed Lu talk to our Silicon Valley VPE group a few months ago about B612. Has funding reached critical mass to launch Sentinal?

  5. i hear tell ferrari has strongest brand
Mr Jurveston, please hybridize these three super brands!

    interesting:
    ferrari ($2b revenue)
    nasa ($~20b budget)
    apple ($~200b revenue)

  6. bit misleading, fiat ($80b revenue)
