I finally got a copy (Thanks Tony!) of the latest issue of Sport Rocketry, with the maiden launch of our Warped Reality rocket on a huge N2600 motor from Cesaroni in Canada.

As the end of the launch waiver approached, and the sun began to set, we rushed to set up the launch rail and prepare our 12 ft.-tall rocket for her maiden launch.

We armed the electronics and confirmed GPS lock with two wireless base stations. Then came the announcement to the flight line, and the inevitable butterflies during the countdown…

And then, a throaty roar into the sky and a cone of light… 70 ft. tall at this point, and growing… a delightful display to close the Saturday launches at BALLS.

More photos below. And here’s a video compilation (HD).

We plan to give her an extreme boost on a N5800 CStar at LDRS in July. The heat-shrunk laminate may peel back like a supersonic banana… we’ll see…

  2. Finally I think I’m going to end up getting interested in rockets, me whose childhood hobby was shooting tasty red squirrels for the table with a single shot 22.
