   My son-in-law was in VMFA-323, now he is in the Army National Guard. He once locked me into the cockpit of an F/A-18. I didn’t want to start pushing buttons or flipping switches.

   I’ve still got a soft spot for the F-4. A maintenance nightmare, but when it’s running right it’s very impressive.

   It was very sad to be at Mojave when BAE was taking F-4s and refitting them to be autonomous target drones. But it was nice to see the test flights, and get boomed by them, perhaps for their penultimate time.
