I didn’t know anything about Helium-3 and had to look it up. Although it occurs in nature, most of it is manufactured from dismantled nuclear weapons. Swords into ploughshares!
Helium *3*? Good heavens. No wonder they want backup power. Helium 4 is hard enough to keep around and expensive enough to want to. Helium 3 multiplies your problems at least thousandfold. That looks like a 500L Dewar, so would contain several million dollars of liquid He-3. I’m guessing they use cheap(er) He-4 to get to 4.2K and the He-3 only in the last stage of cooling.
