I recorded Bandella’s live performance at the e.g. 7 conference this weekend. It’s a band of NASA astronauts, with Chris Hadfield currently in space (guitars, vocals, first Canadian Commander of the ISS), Micki Pettit (lead vocals), Cady Coleman (flute, 180 days in space so far) and other stars who drift into nearer-earth orbit.

They started with Van Morrison’s Moondance and then one I did not catch the name of.

I especially liked their last song, an ode by MIcki Petit to her husband Don Petit , the first astronaut to enter the SpaceX Dragon capsule in space, and the photographer of the beautiful pictures of Earth streaming by.

And Mimosa found a fun instructional primer on space photography that Chris Hadfield just posted on YouTube.

  4. I have been following Col. Chris Hadfield in Facebook (he is on Twitter too, and YouTube and Soundcloud) since a very long time (a year). He has been in the International Space Station since December and later took over the command as the first Canadian astronaut to do so. He has less than a month to go. Since December, he has been sharing his incredible photos, several each day, (in English and in French) of our planet as he circles the Earth 16 times a day. It is like travelling along with him. viewing Earth from above.

You can find where the ISS is at any time of the day here:

And you can see our world with Chris Hadfield’s photos in his Facebook page and also here:

  5. An out-of-this world show! Wonderful!

  6. His song for Mother’s Day — Space Oddity — is my new favorite.
