I hope the regulators (or at least the sign hangers) got a chuckle out of this.

The “Designated Smoking Area” at San Jose Airport is adjacent to the gas mains with “No Smoking” warning signs.

Ceci n’est pas une cigarette…

Oh, and now I notice that there is no place to discard the butts.

As the smoking pariahs are pushed farther from public places, this is a rare sight for me. I don’t know anyone who smokes, and this guy may be the only one I’ve seen smoking in California in the past five years.

It sure makes trips to Asia and Burning Man stand out… =)

  6. I counted nine ashtrays on the ground. Must be the reason the yard seems so clean from butts. And have you noticed the four giant cigarettes standing up in the back? Quite suggestive for smokers.
Very nice capture and funny. And by the way, what is that door in the middle of the ground, a grave for the smokers?
    Have a great week Steve.

  7. The best thing about no smoking regulations is that it doesn’t force service personnel like waiters to breathe in secondhand smoke all day long.
