What does this look like to you?

  1. Open the Pod Doors Hal… Neat shot. Would be neat to get one pointing the other direction with no people in it – really would look like space

  2. I agree with both of the above.. Cool shot.

  3. Pretty interesting there Steve… Color me intrigued.

  4. Well… I’m pretty sure it’s one of the Ames’ wind tunnels… but that’s already taken… so I’ll go with a turbine feed at the Three Gorges Dam, or a section of the Chunnel…. nah, it’s gotta be a wind tunnel….. make sure the safety is ON… (a recurring nightmare, stuck in a wind tunnel when it’s turned on….. ====8-o )

  5. Interior shot of the new SpaceX Falcon 19, about to be prepped with crew and greenhouse for Elon’s Mars mission next year? 🙂 That, or a new half-pipe for some extreme skate event a popular energy-drink manufacturer came up with…

  6. Definitely Ramathreein =)

Don’ t know if you saw it back then but : a Rendez Vous Avec Rama short movie (4 minutes) A student film inspired by the Arthur C. Clarke novel. Directed and animated by Aaron Ross, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU in 2001.

  7. Brilliant shot! Looks amazing this rendezvous =)

  8. I see now I misread your description. Of course it’s an Ames wind tunnel, because were else would you be hanging out? But what does that wind tunnel remind you of? I guess [http://www.flickr.com/photos/photonquantique] nailed that one.

  9. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/photonquantique] — Mais oui, it’s clearly a copy of the Frenchy-spaceport… near where we met. Very cool visual association.

Yes, this is the 40×80 section of the large NASA wind tunnel.

I will post a bunch more photos today.

The roof is festooned with omni-directional reflectors that carry unique barcodes. They only light up when shooting with a flash…

  10. Or Jonah in the mouth of the whale, with some truly spectacular bioluminesence?

  11. So the above design and the below design are similar?
