Steve Jobs’ favorite vacation spot was Kona Village, now owned by Michael Dell. Steve visited many times… more than any other location. He had a standing retainer for one of the Hales with a preemptive right at any time and have his room. So, he would sometimes be on vacation somewhere else and conclude “This is not as good as Kona Village; let’s go there.” And he would just show up.

The resort was closed after the March 2011 tsunami lifted the hales off of their foundation posts.

I just learned first hand that in his final days, Jobs called Dell to seek assurances that it would be preserved as he loved it, a string of grass-roof hales with no television, phones or internet.

  1. Nice offshore perspective.

  2. Very nice shot. Like paradise!

  3. This made me think of Solve for X. Loved the video, watched it twice. Still thinking about the questions it raises.
