  2. its too bad olympus is kind of out of the game, these days. they were one of the only brands that took water sealing very seriously and you could know which lenses were sealed (mid grade and top grade; its easy). but oly is not competitive these days and seems to have lost their edge. still, superior lenses for outdoor use. seems you would make good use of that kind of camera system. I would never risk taking a nikon or canon to the beach. never.

  3. Outstanding shots, Steve….!

  4. 26 below zero here in Québec today. I love this photo.

  5. I went boogie-boarding on Kauai several years ago in 12-foot waves. The waves looked kinda scary, but I mean, a bunch of local kids were out there, so how hard could it be? After being pummeled and dragged along the ocean floor several times, I gained a new respect for the power of moving water. I also learned why the kids were ditching the waves before they got anywhere near the shore (unlike me). There were very large submerged lava rocks up there. Lucky I wasn’t killed! Boarding in SoCal last summer was a lot easier and safer–except for the sharks.

Kauai is beautiful. The only bad thing was the flocks of tiny frogs that would cover some of the roads at night. I got out of the car and tried to move them out of the way, but there were just too many. It was my ‘Nam, man. I still have nightmares.
