Flying back from a day spent in airports on conference calls.

I had three consecutive cancelled flights today!
SJC->LAX (all of our hydraulic fluid drained onto the tarmac while taxiing)
LAX->Teterboro (rescheduled)
LAX->SJC cancelled (I stopped asking why)

But I got a lot done, and saw a pretty sunset… and a solar thermal plant, below

  1. halfway to LA, I saw a solar thermal facility glinting in the sun:

    And from a slightly different angle, it does not seem that the mirrors are aligned to the boiler atop the tower:

  2. the sunset is indeed great compensation 🙂

    my parents once took three days to travel from buffalo to budapest via new york and frankfurt and vienna. the last segment to budapest involved a bus!
    none of which was supposed to happen that way of course.
    but that’s okay.

  3. Sorry to hear about the delays!
    " it does not seem that the mirrors are aligned to the boiler atop the tower:" Yes Indeed one of the amazing shot of a solar thermal =)

  4. Might want to fly commercial rather than private GA aircraft. Might also look into the service records of the GA jets you are climbing aboard. While private jet ownership is sheik, these birds do not have the redundancies built into them like commercial aircraft, and while the convenience of getting in and out of Manhattan is attractive, GA safety records are abysmal, especially has maintenance had been off shored to leverage cheap labor. Your mileage may vary. Nothing beats a Boeing aircraft in terms of redundancy and safety. GA is for flying for fun, when you do not have to be there for business.

  5. Some days, it’s just better to roll over and take another 40 winks….
