Our Warped Reality Rocket was carrying a BalloonBoy Crystal Ball GPS transmitter. I have to thank John Ballard again for his omnipresent ground support from Burro Camp. For this flight, he tested two different base station receivers.

On the way up, we broke Mach 1. Here you see the overlay of the dataset on Google Earth, so you can see what the Burners would see if they let rockets fly at Burning Man. (here’s the launch video compilation (HD) if you haven’t seen it).

My buddy Todd just posted a draft 1.3 gigapixel airborne scan of the Burning Man site. Better than spook-sat imagery (which was used to help with the stitching =)

  1. Here is Black Rock City as I flew over it a few weeks earlier:

Frog Pond is just off the playa to the left of Black Rock City. Appropriately, it has a land line (since we were launching a rocket wrapped in the Matrix):

    NOT a Landline

and reminding me that a rich discussion ensued. =)

P.S. Ghosts of launches past. My son marks the spot of prior ballistic burials.

  2. So your rocket could find Neo from the Matrix via GPS at the Burining Man? Lol 🙂
