I finished the final carbon fiber layup last night. Whew.

Both will go supersonic, and if I can find a special nozzle, both should break Mach 2.

I hope to get them back for repeat flights. Both will fly with streaming GPS, a backup RF beacon, two flight computers with accelerometers and barometer, two CO2 canisters for drogue and main parachute deployment, and maybe a video cam tucked away to emerge at apogee.

Now I’m off to the desert on a horse with no brain… Launch shots at end of the comments below.

  1. Nice work – much luck on the launch, speed and recovery.

  2. Warped Reality did you say… Now that you say so… like an optical illusion in front of an awakening visualisation…. One may wonder if it was the Agents in the corridor… or you standing with your rockets ; )

"Neo: Do you always look at it encoded ?
Cypher: Well you have to. The image translators work for the construct program. But there’s way too much information to decode the Matrix. You get used to it. I…I don’t even see the code. All I see is blonde, brunette, red-head. Hey, you a… want a drink?"

That one was like asking for it O=)

  3. Go fast. Godspeed your return.

  4. Lol, Clement – it is all green to me:D

  5. Nice painting! Like supersonic! Well done.

  6. Awesome Steve. Looking forward to flight videos

  7. Photon: I love it. I can dodge bullets?

After a nine hour drive, I have arrived and am wrestling with the logistics of a missing nozzle.

  8. Good luck with the launch and especially the recovery.

  9. Yes He Can !! Twice ; ) Have fun !!! =)

  10. Perhaps a good omen…. as I was driving over the Carquinez Bridge, Endeavour flew right in front of me… I knew she was coming so I had the 400mm at my side… I’m amazed I captured it at all shooting blind while focusing on driving:

She is en route to the California Science Center, and this particular shuttle is special to me since I have crawled through it to create the virtual tour the museum will use to show what it looks like on the inside when powered up. Here is a staged online version (the final will be in a dedicated kiosk).

And here are the photos I took of Endeavour at KSC.

So it was a magical moment to see her final flight and swan song… while driving a truck full of rockets no less. =)

  11. Thank you for sharing. The photo is stunning!

P.S. here are the pad prep, launch photos and recovery. She had a perfect maiden flight on a N2600 Skidmark at sunset. Warped Reality Blastoff
