  1. I also had to drop in to see if the Pirate McDonalds was still cranking away… Yarr

and sure enough, they were busy at work trying to get the tape drive to behave.

  2. Ahhh… the old treasure map tattooed on the back trick! King Solomon’s mines are at the "X".

  3. Gee, this really makes me feel my age. When I was growing up my granny, may she rest in peace, drilled into me that nothing, but nothing was as tacky as a tattoo… and a tattooed woman… I shan’t be around to see this lady’s tattoo when it starts to wrinkle and sag… the kids of the future are going to have a wonderful time looking at all the old people’s tattoos on the beach 30 or 40 years from now.

Note: In the emergency rooms of British hospitals they have an equation where by multiplying the number of the patient’s tattoos by the number of his or her missing teeth gives you the number of days since the patient last had a bath.

  4. I believe that is an Okapi on her upper left there. That’s got to be a pretty rare choice for a tattoo animal.

  5. she sure makes it easy for the G men to track her down….

  6. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/ukweli] – Yes, and the Okapi is a very special denizen of the forests of Eastern Congo (in the appropriate geographic location on the map). I first learned of this zebra-striped relative of the giraffe at WCN events:

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/48331433@N05] – The "tooth-to-tattoo ratio" has crossed the pond and is in active use at the Oakland ER (the puncture wound capital of Northern Cal)… but it has morphed into a metric of overall psychiatric health. =)

  7. Oh, speaking of all-in tattoos, I have been meaning to share the two that I saw presented to Bill Gates at TED:

    Now that’s hardcore. =)

And this one speaks to the decoded Asimov 596 and Pirate on the McDonalds…

  8. Wow, this is something! It is always amazing that people want to do this to their bodies….thank you for the word "commitment" …it is great!…makes a good point here:) Bill Gates analogy with fireflies is my very favorite together with Diamandis "the future is ours" …Bill Gates does not look like himself on the one above…something about his chin and lips…merged Bill Gates with his wife, maybe?..:D

Lord preserve us! Like I said before, it is really going to be fun to see these tattoos when these people get old and the skin begins to wrinkle and sag. I have seen old sailors with small, saggy tattoos, but this stuff will look like Leonard’s (Da Vinci not De Caprio) "Last Supper".

  10. Amy gave me permission to post her photo, and so she has seen the dialog… =) She writes:

    "Hilarious comments re: the picture.

Here are mine — post for me!

As the owner and wearer of this tattoo, let me stick in my two cents:
    — beware of stereotypes. i am a phi beta kappa from the university of chicago, and an md/mba. i have all my teeth. i have also actually saved the lives of people who didn’t have such great oral hygiene by surgically draining their chests after they developed Ludwig’s angina. and i can get into someone’s chest with a pretty sharp knife in about 30 seconds.
    — sometimes a really flashy and attention grabbing thing actually helps you to work under the proverbial radar (speaking of "g-men"). because people do as you did: assume they know who i am, my skills, my connections, etc.: under-cover by public under-estimation.
    — some of us also aren’t afraid of growing old, getting saggy, etc. if you look at the picture, you’ll also see that i already have a lot of gray hair. i am older than you think and also fully prepared to live with the consequences of my choices.
    — hope all you commenters will actually take a look at what i do and why i do it, and why i chose to go "all in" as steve remarked."

  11. we welcome the chance to actually look at what you do.
this picture alone does not tell us any of it 🙂
    cheers to a fellow physician!

  12. Singularity university crowd is special…have no doubt about it! Admire brave, intelligent and spirited women! Still would not do it to my own body though…. and hope that my kid would not….I would go for a body painting in art modern style…which can be removed…can envision something really beautiful…or some Japanese calligraphy…there was one Japanese movie with body painting…Japanese and French have incredible sense of taste..and elegance when it comes to any visual arts…learn from the best!

Looking forward to seeing U on MAKERS. Outstanding way overdue documentary on just Who Woman are in 2012 and Our Journeys…Thank you to PBS and AOL for great foresight ! MAKERS http://www.makers.com/
Saw the Makers interview on Eve Ensler when she did Vagina Monologues in MI Last Month to let the Men know.. Yes we Woman do have a Vagina ! And guess what !!!
Even though every person is born via a Vagina Normally
we Woman DO NOT make the babies !!

The Male Sperm Makes Babies !! It is the Male action that causes children to be made !! The Female body is only doing what it does every month … ovulating eggs. Where as the Male ejaculation and penetration is something the MAN DOES himself. Yet the Men do not want to be accountable nor be responsible for their behavior and action. That is the CORE of problem why birth control and abortion needed. Woman do not want it but the woman cannot afford the human lives the MEN make and then walk away.
