Pre-paint (everyone is giving a hand signal for #1… I thought the robots should have those big foam hands with a finger up that you see at sporting events… =)

Putting on the glass roof, after the center body is assembled by the other autobots

A delicious Filet Of Car…

The chassis and four painted doors are shuttled about on an EV robot that follows the black line on the floor (like a Mindstorms NXT challenge I remember well =)

Lovely
Reminds me of the car models I used to love assembling.
What’s the "HP" equivalent of this car….
ie what are the performance (and battery) specs ?
very rare indeed to have a full set of production photos of one’s car 🙂
hope your’s comes with a dash badge saying #001
Flickr is my primary blog, and yes there is discussion on Facebook.
And yes, I report to Tesla on my usage and reactions every day.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/scleroplex] – Yup, the VIN# ends in 00001
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/heet_myser] – I like "Dragon Red". Good SpaceX cross-ties. But, they call it Signature Red (because the first 1000 cars are a Signature series, and this particular red is only available for those cars).
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveh56] – This is the "Performance" model, and so it goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds (faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera). Here is a summary page of specs on the Model S.
Now consider that the Model X will have two of these motors… with an AWD precision never seen before, and more horsepower than a $2.4 million Bugatti, yet with a total cost of ownership less than a Ford Taurus.
At some point, it will become obvious to all that the Internal combustion engine (wasting 75-80% of its energy in heat loss) can’t compete with the new generation of electric drive trains.
And it’s not just premium cars. Today, there are 200 million EVs buzzing around China. Most of them are electric scooters, which are cheaper to own and operate than the public bus fare. Here’s the growth curve I pulled together with Weinert from Chevron and now Bosch China:
The car skeleton is gorgeous and as I said before, the plant is gorgeous too. The top photo is beautiful!
So how much should I set aside after winning the lottery to purchase the best version of this car?
By the way, who gets your other Tesla?
Thanks for the info
My basic scooter (now on its 2nd battery after 2 years and maybe 250 charge cycles) is working quite well…
Never thought electric would catch on so quickly,I must admit.
and it sure sparkles in the sun
“Taken as a whole, seen in the California sun, the Model S is a glowing, glassine tranche of well-heeled wickedness.” — Dan Neil’s eloquent review in the July 6 Wall Street Journal.
