Imagine if we put the same level of imagination and $$ into homeless shelters, human rehabilitation facilities, prison anti-recidivism programs, anti-poverty programs, anti-illiteracy programs, education programs, music programs/facilities, outdoor recreation programs/facilities, NASA, the NSA, should I stop now? This country has a juvenile, fear-driven priority-setting problem of inter-galactic proportions. We spent more THIS YEAR on defense that we did over the ENTIRE HISTORY of this Eisenhower Interstate Highway program (yes…ALL of our interstate highways cost less than ONE YEAR of our utterly insane defense budget – in $$ adjusted for inflation through 2006). The boomer generation has flushed the wealth of the world down the toilet on selfish programs like these missiles, bank bailouts, needless defense, & illegal wars of conquest. Time for a HUGE change.

@Stephen Bové It’s easy to make those statements while living under the umbrella those deterrent protections provided. All while at the same time ignoring benefits that research into those technologies are still providing today. In the end enjoy the technical achievements and positive impacts the product above have brought to humanity.
