This is the view from the middeck, the first room when entering from ground. You can see the walls curving in toward the nose, which is straight ahead, behind all of the exposed electronics.

Above me is the flight deck.

Behind me in the airlock; photo below.

  1. Here is Endeavour’s Airlock, with the Payload Bay in the distance (more on that later =)

Once inside the airlock, the astronaut could enter the payload bay, or go straight up and exit at the top for an EVA.

  2. Interesting series. Keep them coming! As each of these shuttles end up in museums I figure access will be very limited.

  3. Yeah, I wonder if they will be able to let people onboard at all given the contained access points. Here is a diagram of what I have been describing:

  4. EveryScape has finished the stitching of my fisheye shots into a virtual tour. Before you start, remember to click the full screen button in the bottom right corner of the main image. Then you can click on the image and drag to look up down and all around. When you see an orange arrow, you can zoom to the neighboring room. OK here is the VR tour of Endeavour, starting with this Middeck.

And here’s a flickr post showing what the input images looked like for the flight deck and links to the other areas.
