While he was down in the Valley. With just a touch of back-hair-lighting.

Talking about conservation and entrepreneurship. And you can see his involvement in both at crowdrise… which sports the cool tagline:

If you don’t give back no one will like you

  1. thanks… and from last time

    Edward Norton ♡ Kenya

  2. great he saves all kinds of cats… looks like humans can be in different animal groups too… some, like Putin are rats and others are cats:) we love all cats!

  3. Your photos are so intriguing, by far my favorite photo stream to follow J! Let me know next time you are in and around Stuttgart, I would love to meet you.

  4. What if you are a movie star working in Hollywood for one day and Edward becomes a VC working in SV for that same day?

  5. Funny. 10+ years ago some friend in Hollywood had the idea that I needed to date Norton for some reason, but nothing ever became of it. Now every time I see his pic (which is < once/year since don’t read tabloids and don’t watch Hollywood movies) I still think of how that friend tried to send me on a date with Norton.

  6. I always thought he looked like a nice guy, though.

  7. the back hair lighting works so well here
    well done portrait

  8. Check out the double ghost. I don’t see how the profile is possible even with double pane glass. Double layer PS glass, of course. Now you can clone him.

  9. no photoshop in any of my photos, even the sunset on Tatooine
    closing couplet

  10. No shortage of double suns, but the last one has him bent around like a hologram. To do it with PS you would need at least one more shot then be good with layers. I forget but I recall reading some of his dad’s urban/city planning books. A pretty well known influential social thought academic researcher. Ahh, here we go http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2010/12/2/norton-rose-urban-ro... "In terms of infrastructure, “the U.S. is left behind,” Rose said, citing China’s rapid development as an example." Uhhh, wow, can’t agree with that one if you have seen some of the stuff they have been up to lately in China on a massive scale like modern ghost hell towns. That and the lack of social conscience in urban plans, destroying ethnicities, cultural heritage, architecture, you name it. That goes back to the cultural revolution too. Not to mention the lack of environmental infrastructure and protections unless you like toxic waste water, choking air pollution, and worse. Now, the person I was thinking about: “He was very ahead of his time in social ethics,” Norton said of his grandfather. This is very true. That is the person I had in mind, his granddad. Let’s see….., it is not like this is that long ago, his grandmother just passed away from what I see, that is always rough with a family so well liked and involved. That void.
Norton is not your typical actor that is for sure, really talented too. I wonder why he would even bother with acting. Seems a bit beneath someone with his background. But, hey I liked him in that one with Richard Geer where he played a psycho priest abuse stuttering killer. Nice redneck accent too.

  11. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/solerena] This book contrasts the Soviet style urban planning with Norton’s grandfather Rouse.

We get into these kinds of issues in Brazil but it takes place on a geographic scale much bigger than Columbia MD believe it or not. What can you say about a 60,000 hectare (200 sq miles give or take) estate that has 200 hec in the center that you can work on but the rest under a conservancy structure. That is comparable to a big game preserve in Africa complete with the need to deal with conditions that would challenge Wild Kingdom Jim. The social issues in South America are challenging to say the least, but really interesting that is for sure. Lots of room to innovate too. Of course it really helps if you have a firm grasp of magical reality for Brazil in particular. Even in the major cities it never ceases to amaze me.
Here we go. An RPPN only a different name in Minas, I forget how it works for things like gems, minerals and those resources there. docs.google.com/open?id=0B86gMl7IvdErYTI2YzZhNGEtMTc2NS00…
A great place if you want to do something like start a bigger real organic apiary than all North America, if that were even possible, and still have room left over to build a space center or two. In my case I would nix the space centers build a medium case sede and just stick with bees. All other forms of animal raising have some kind of nasty smelly stuff involved and I get too emotionally attached to them, like pets.

  12. Aww. Ed Norton seems like such a nice guy. How wonderful to have lunch with him. 🙂
